#13: A Million Dreams – Isabella Russo and Luca Padovan Interview

We’re back for a second season, y’all! We’re getting started a little differently- with an interview.

In today’s episode, Sally sits down with Broadway stars Isabella Russo and Luca Padovan to talk all things Junior Theater Festival in anticipation of the online JTF extravaganza, coming up 1/15-17. This pair shared the stage in School of Rock and have been best friends ever since! And when it comes to the annual JTF, Isabella and Luca’s performances and social media updates are a staple.

Join us to kick off our second season with this chat about JTF adjudications, a surreal Pasek and Paul moment, Ratatouille the musical, and more! Visit juniortheaterfestival.com for more info on upcoming events.

Shout-outs

  • Be sure to follow Isabella (@iamisabellarusso/) and Luca (@moreorlesluca) on Instagram for updates from the Junior Theatre festival this weekend and to check out what they’re up to this year!
  • Luca’s musical recommendations for the week are Six, Mean Girls, The Prom, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (I promise I didn’t pay him to plug my favorite show!).
  • Isabella’s musical recommendation for the week is Ratatouille (of course!).
  • Mentions: Junior Theatre Festival, iTheatrics, Timothy McDonald, “So help me, Sondheim!,” Moana, Playbill, MTI (Musical Theatre International), James and the Giant Peach, The Greatest Showman, Matilda, Six, Mean Girls, The Prom, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Ratatouille
  • Special thanks to Peachy Corners Cafe, Crazy Love Coffeehouse, Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee, Ground & Pound Coffee, and Noble & Main for being the best editing offices.
  • BGP would not be possible without behind-the-scenes team members Thomas Fuller and Elise Friderich.

I got to interview Isabella and Luca for the first time at JTF ’18, back when I still had mermaid hair, and so enjoyed getting to know them! Check out my colleague Sam and me striking some jazz hands with our new favorite actors.

Addendums

iTheatrics will hold two more JTF events this year, JTF West (in Sacramento) and JTF Texas (in Sugarland). Visit juniortheaterfestival.com/ for more information and to register.

Musical Theatre International, one of the hosts of JTF, is the company that releases the “JR” and “Kids” versions of most musicals. So when you see your niece as a precious bee in The Jungle Book Kids, it’s adapted by MTI.
